About Bash Checker

Bash Checker is a free static analyzer for shell scripts. Learn who builds it, how the analysis works, and what it deliberately does not do.

Purpose

Bash Checker is an independently run, browser-based static analyzer for Bash and POSIX shell scripts. It was created to make careful script review accessible without signup or local installation.

How analysis works

Submitted scripts travel over HTTPS to the analysis endpoint and are reviewed as text against a fixed rubric. Scripts are never executed. Reports cover security, error handling, portability, dependencies, validation and resource management.

Limitations

Static analysis cannot observe runtime state, external command behavior or environment-specific files. Findings are review guidance rather than a guarantee, and changes should always be tested safely before production use.
